TOWNSVILLE, Diocese of. - It is located in the central-northern region of the State of Queensland (Australia).

It was erected, with territory detached from the diocese of Rockhampton, on 12 February 1930 and declared a suffragan of the archdiocese of Brisbane.

It has an area of 150,000 sq km with 100,000 inhabitants, of whom 25,000 are Catholics and the others Protestants. Parishes 24, churches 51, diocesan priests 46, religious 9, brothers 21, nuns 185, schools and colleges 35, various institutions 3.
