TIERRADENTRO, PREFETTURA APOSTOLICA di. — It is situated in the center of the Cordillera of Colombia, at a high altitude.
It was established on 13 May 1921 with territory detached from the archdiocese of Popayán and entrusted to the Lazarists, who had begun missionary work there as early as 1905. It has an area of 2,000 sq. km. and a population of approximately 36,000 inhabitants, all Catholics except for very few Protestants. Missionaries 5, sisters 16, catechists 53, quasi-parishes 3, primary stations 2, secondary stations 22, churches 20, elementary schools 45, dispensaries 4.
