VIGILIAE CHRISTIANAE. - A quarterly journal that began publication in 1947, published by the North-Holland Publishing Company of Amsterdam, to investigate the life and language of the early Christians.
It devotes itself to "historical, cultural, linguistic, philological" research on Christian literature in the broadest sense, also studying epigraphy and Christian archaeology: it does not, however, concern itself with patristic theology and ancient ecclesiastical history as such. It stands out for the number and the varied nationalities of its contributors, although until recently it excluded contributions in any language other than English, French and Latin.
