VIGILIAE CHRISTIANAE. — A quarterly periodical first issued in 1947, published by the North-Holland Publishing Company of Amsterdam, for the investigation of the life and language of the early Christians.
It is devoted to “historical, cultural, linguistic, and philological” research on Christian literature in the broadest sense, also studying Christian epigraphy and archaeology; it does not, however, concern itself with patristic theology and ancient ecclesiastical history as such. It is notable for the number and varied nationalities of its contributors, although until quite recently it excluded contributions in languages other than English, French, and Latin.
