VETUS TESTAMENTUM. - A quarterly published by the International Organization of Old Testament Scholars, founded at Leiden in 1951.

It can already be counted among the most authoritative organs of Old Testament scholarship. Protestants, Jews and Catholics collaborate in it. It comprises articles (on average 16 pp.), short notes, and reviews, sometimes even extensive ones. It is especially [notable] for textual criticism, for research in which the new orientalist knowledge is applied to the Old Testament and for discussions on the Dead Sea manuscripts. The articles are written in English, French and German; unlike the international journals published in Rome, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Latin are excluded. The publisher is the house of E. J. Brill.
