EXPIATORY VICTIMS OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT. - Founded in Naples on 16 July 1878 by Sister Maria Cristina Brando of the Immaculate Conception (b. in Naples on 3 May 1856, d. there on 26 Jan. 1906).Its purpose is the education of young women in schools, orphanages and reformatories. They received the decree of praise and the temporary approval of the Constitutions on 7 July 1903, and the definitive approval on 15 March 1911. The sisters currently number 115, with 11 houses all in southern Italy (Arch. d. S. Congr. dei Relig., N. 22).
