WERNER di RATISBONA. — Franciscan mystical writer of the second half of the 13th century.
A lector in the convent of Ratisbona and probably custos of Baviera, in 1278 he served as an arbiter of peace in the dispute between Bishop Enrico II of Ratisbona and the Chapter of S. Emmerano. He assisted Duke Enrico of Baviera on his deathbed (3 February 1290).
His Liber soliloquiorum is famous, a true flower of early German Franciscan mysticism and of laude literature. An Onomasticon sacrum is also attributed to him.
