WERNER of Regensburg. - Franciscan mystical writer of the second half of the 13th century.
Reader in the convent of Regensburg and probably in the custody of Bavaria, in 1278 he was an arbiter of peace in the dispute between Bishop Henry II of Regensburg and the Chapter of St. Emmeram. He assisted at the deathbed of Duke Henry of Bavaria (3 Feb. 1290).
Famous is his *Liber soliloquiorum*, a true flower of early German Franciscan mysticism and of laudatory literature. He is also attributed with an *Onomasticon sacrum*.
