1 That the feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary be celebrated on the twenty-first day of the month of November with a double office. Sixtus, bishop, servant of the servants of God, for the perpetual memory of the matter.

2 The Immaculate Mother of God Mary, from whose most pure womb, the integrity of virginity being preserved through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Author of life deigned to be born on earth, we humbly venerate her life-giving fruitfulness, and whatever has been instituted in her honour by the holy Fathers from the furthest regions of the East and in other times by the Church, we strive to protect and increase by our weak efforts, and, if anything has been omitted, with her aid who sits above the choirs of angels, we endeavour to restore, so that the devout people may rejoice with us in the frequency of spiritual joys; and lest the splendour which the angelic heavens admire in the heavens should be passed over on earth through the pious memory of sacred festivals to be recalled, praised and invoked. Therefore, to the other celebrations of the perpetual Virgin, which the Catholic Church has consecrated—she who was prepared from eternity and foretold by prophetic testimonies, yet was not made Mother of God until the angel announced it—we also wish to add the presentation of her in the temple, which was to be the temple of God and the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit, observed with the greatest veneration by all peoples from the most ancient times, and wherever it has been omitted, we decree that it be restored and perpetually observed.

3 § 1. For this reason by this perpetual constitution we command that the feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary be always celebrated on the twenty-first day of November, throughout all the churches of the whole world, with a double office, as is done on the day of the Nativity, taking the name of Presentation, and the same shall be inserted in the calendar with the notation of a double.

4 § 2. Commanding all patriarchs, archbishops, bishops and other prelates of churches constituted throughout the whole world, that each in his own churches, provinces, cities and dioceses cause these present letters to be solemnly published, and that they be observed entirely by all ecclesiastical persons, both secular and of whatever regular Orders, even though the notation of this celebration may have been omitted in the latest reforms of the breviary and missal.

5 § 3. We also wish that copies of these letters, even printed ones, subscribed by the hand of a notary public and bearing the seal, shall have the same force.

2 L'Immacolata Madre di Dio Maria, dalle cui purissime viscere, salva per virtù dello Spirito Santo l'integrità della verginità, l'Autore della vita si è degnato di nascere in terra venerato, la cui fecondità salutare umilmente veneriamo, e tutte le cose che dalle estreme parti dell'oriente e da altri tempi dall'anno di Cristo 1585 dai santi Padri furono istituite in suo onore, con l'aiuto della nostra debolezza custodiamo e aumentiamo, e, se qualcosa fosse stata omessa, con l'aiuto di Colei che siede sopra i cori degli angeli, rinnoviamo, affinché il popolo devoto con noi si rallegri della frequenza dei gaudi spirituali; e il cui splendore gli angeli del cielo ammirano nei cieli, il cui ricordo pio sulla terra per mezzo delle sacre festività da ricordare, da lodare e da invocare non sia trascurato. 3 § 1. Perciò con questa perpetua costituzione ordiniamo che la festa della Presentazione della B. Vergine Maria sia celebrata sempre nel giorno undici dicembre, per tutte le chiese di tutto il mondo, con ufficio doppio, come nel giorno della Natività, preso il vocabolo della Presentazione, sia compiuto, e lo stesso nel calendario con l'aggiunta di doppio sia inserito.

4 § 2. Ordinando a tutti i patriarchi, arcivescovi, vescovi e agli altri prelati delle chiese costituiti in tutto l'ambito dell'universo mondo, che in ciascuna delle loro chiese, province, città e diocesi facciano solennemente pubblicare le presenti nostre, e da tutte le persone ecclesiastiche, sia dei secolari che di qualunque Ordine regolare, siano interamente osservate, benché l'annotazione di questa celebrazione fosse stata omessa nelle ultime riforme del breviario e del messale.

5 § 3. Vogliamo inoltre che agli esempi dei presenti, anche stampati, di mano di notaio pubblico sottoscritti ecc.
