Sacri apostolatus
Bull confirming the constitutions of the Clerics Regular Poor of the Mother of God of the Pious Schools
XLVII
Confirmation of the constitutions issued by the Congregation of Poor Clerks of the Mother of God of the Pious Schools for its happy governance.
Gregory, Pope XV, for perpetual memory of the matter.
1 Placed over the ministry of sacred apostleship through an abundance of divine grace, though by no merit of our own, we willingly apply ourselves to those things by which the happy and prosperous direction of the Christian faithful, especially those serving the Most High under the sweet yoke of religion and in the spirit of humility, is provided for, and to those things which are said to have been done for this reason, we add the firmness of apostolic protection, so that they may be inviolably observed by all whom they concern, as we perceive it to be salutarily expedient in the Lord. § 1. Since therefore, as our beloved sons, the superior of the Pious Schools and the clerks of the Congregation of Poor Clerks of the Mother of God of the Pious Schools have recently caused to be set forth to us, they themselves have made various constitutions for the happy and prosperous state and governance of the same Congregation, and have reduced them into one volume, of the tenor following, namely: (The tenor of those constitutions is omitted, because they are printed in a particular book, which is kept in the archive of this Congregation, and is had in each of its monasteries); and we will and decree that the general chapter cannot alter or infringe the aforesaid constitutions unless five parts out of six of the chapter concur, for the glory of almighty God and the utility of our neighbors.
2 § 2. We, the Pontiff, desiring to consult, as much as we can with the Lord, for the inviolable observance of the said constitutions, and wishing to follow the said superior and clerks with special favors and graces, and absolving their individual persons from whatsoever excommunication, suspension and interdict, and other ecclesiastical sentences, censures and penalties, whether by law or by man, in any occasion or cause incurred, if they are bound by them in any way whatsoever, by the tenor of these presents for the purpose of obtaining the effect of these presents only, and considering them absolved, inclined to the supplications humbly presented to us in their name on this matter, by the counsel of our venerable brothers the cardinals of the Holy Roman Church, bishops and superiors of regulars, we approve and confirm the aforesaid constitutions by apostolic authority, by the tenor of these presents, perpetually, and add to them the strength of perpetual and inviolable apostolic firmness, and we supply all and singular defects both of law and of fact, and any others whatsoever, if any have intervened in the aforesaid matters or in any of them in any way whatsoever.
3 § 3. Decreeing that the modern and for the time being existing superior and clerks of the said Congregation, and other persons, are held and obliged to the full observance of the same constitutions, as those concern them, and can also be compelled and forced to it under ecclesiastical censures and other penalties contained in the aforesaid constitutions, and thus ought to be judged and decided by any ordinary and delegated judges, even auditors of the causes of the apostolic palace, and if anything contrary to these should be attempted by anyone whatsoever, by any authority, knowingly or unknowingly, it shall be null and void.
4 § 3. We decree that the present and future superiors and clerics of the said Congregation, and other persons, are held and obligated to the full observance of the same constitutions, insofar as they concern them, and that they can be compelled and forced to this also under ecclesiastical censures and other penalties contained in the aforesaid constitutions, and thus by any ordinary judges and delegates, even auditors of the causes of the apostolic palace, they ought to be judged and decided upon, and null and void, if anything contrary to these things should be attempted by anyone whatsoever, by whatever authority, knowingly or unknowingly.
5 § 5. We will moreover that to copies of these presents, even printed ones, subscribed by the hand of some public notary and furnished with the seal of a person established in ecclesiastical dignity, the same faith be given as would be given to these presents themselves, if they were exhibited or shown. Given at Rome, at St. Peter's, under the Ring of the Fisherman, on 31 January 1622, in the first year of our pontificate.
6 § 5. We will, however, that to copies of these presents, even printed ones, subscribed by the hand of some public notary and furnished with the seal of a person established in ecclesiastical dignity, the same faith be given as would be given to these very presents themselves, if they were exhibited or shown. Given at Rome, at St. Peter's, under the Fisherman's Ring, on 31 January 1622, in the first year of our pontificate.
7 Given on 31 January 1621, in the first year of the pontificate.

XLVII
1 Al ministero dell'apostolato sacro, preposti per abbondanza, sebbene senza merito nostro, della divina grazia, volentieri attendiamo a quelle cose per le quali si provvede alla felice e prospera direzione dei cristiani fedeli, specialmente di coloro che sotto il dolce giogo della religione e nello spirito di umiltà servono l'Altissimo, e a quelle cose che per questo si dice siano state fatte, affinché da tutti coloro che le riguardano siano inviolabilmente osservate, aggiungiamo la fermezza del munimento apostolico, come nel Signore vediamo che conviene salutarmente. § 1. Poiché dunque, come i diletti figli preposto e chierici della Congregazione dei Poveri della Madre di Dio delle Scuole Pie ci hanno fatto esporre di recente, essi per il felice e prospero stato e governo della medesima Congregazione hanno fatto diverse costituzioni, e le hanno riunite in un solo volume, del seguente tenore, cioè: (Omittitur il tenore di esse costituzioni, perché sono stampate in un libro particolare, che si conserva nell'archivio di questa Congregazione, e si trova in ogni suo monastero);
