ACTA ARCHELAI. - Account of two disputations held by Archelaus, bishop of Carchar in Mesopotamia, against Mani, in the time of the emperor Probus. Composed in Syriac, only a few fragments of it survive in Greek and a poor Latin version from the end of the 4th century. The author is a certain Hegemonius, who wrote at the beginning of the 4th century. The work gives us valuable information on the beginnings of Manichaeism, but it seems that the two disputations it reports are purely fictitious.
