AFFORTY, CHARLES-FRANÇOIS. — Dean of the Sorbonne and canon of the church of St.-Rieul de Senlis, b. 1706, d. 1786. He was one of the most active collaborators of Moreau in the search for documents relating to the history of France. Twenty-five volumes in folio remain of his work, still in manuscript, preserved in the municipal library of Senlis; these constitute a collection of precious documents for French history.
