ABINAL, ANTOINE. - Jesuit missionary, b. at Chanac on 10 Jan. 1829, d. on 11 Nov. 1887 in Madagascar. He published, together with Fr. La Vaissière, the work Vingt ans à Madagascar (Paris 1881) and with Fr. Malzac a Dictionnaire malgache français (Tananarive 1888).
He translated into Malagasy many books of the New and Old Testaments and the Unity of Christ.
