Augustinian Nuns of the Sacred Heart of Mary

AGOSTINIANE del SACRO CUORE DI MARIA. — Their origin is unknown. In 1678, the A. of Tours opened two houses in Saumur, one of which took charge of the hospital there. In 1827, a house in Paris was entrusted to them for the care of sick women from the wealthier classes. Other houses were subsequently opened for the same purpose and for boarders of respectable standing. Approved by the Holy See in 1904, they now number barely 100 sisters in 4 houses.
