AGOSTINO di GIOVANNI. - Sculptor and architect from Siena, documented from 1310 to 1348, the probable year of his death; he is generally remembered together with Agnolo di Ventura (documented from 1325 to 1349), with whom he worked on the tomb of G. Tarlati in the Arezzo cathedral. This is the only certain work among the many attributed to them. They seem to have been pupils of Giovanni Pisano; it is however certain that both worked on the construction of the Siena cathedral as well as the Palazzo Pubblico and other buildings.
