AGOSTINO di GIOVANNI. - Sienese sculptor and architect, of whom there are records from 1310 to 1348, the probable date of his death; he is generally mentioned together with Agnolo di Ventura (records from 1325 to 1349), with whom he worked on the tomb of G. Tarlati in the cathedral of Arezzo. This is the only certain work among the many attributed to them. It seems that they were pupils of Giovanni Pisano; in any case it is established that both worked on the construction of the cathedral of Siena as well as on the Palazzo pubblico and other buildings.
