GIUSEPPE ALBERTI. — Painter and architect, born at Cavalese in Val di Fiemme on 3 Oct. 1640 and died there on 3 Feb. 1716. He carried out his activity mainly in Trent, where he founded the local school of painting. In the Cathedral he built in 1682 the chapel of the Crucifix. His paintings are found, besides in Trent, at S. Michele all’Adige and at Cavalese.
LEANDRO ALBERTI. — Born at Bologna in 1479 and died there in 1551. He became a Dominican at the age of 16 and was a pupil in theology of Fr. Francesco da Priero. Companion of the General of the Order with the title of Provincial of Terra Santa, general inquisitor, most learned and highly esteemed in his time.
He left no fewer than about twenty works of varying value, some of which are of interest for their historical data: *Descrittione di tutta l'Italia* (Bologna 1550); *Ephemerides ab adventu Ludovici XII Galliae regis in Italiam usque ad annum 1552* (manuscript in the University Library of Bologna); *Historie di Bologna* (I and II, Bologna 1541-90; the rest manuscript in the University Library of Bologna); *De viris illustribus Ord. Praedicatorum* (Bologna 1517); etc.
