ALBERTI, GIOVANNI ANDREA. - An Italian Jesuit, born in Nice in 1610, died in Genoa on 4 July 1657. He was a highly regarded preacher and left behind several oratorical works. Most notable are the *Elogia XII Patrum* (Turin 1638), written in panegyric style, and a biography, placed on the Index *donec corrigatur* by decree of 4 June 1692, entitled *Teopista ammaestrata secondo gli esempi della Madre Suor Paola Maria di Giesù Centuriona* [Vittoria Centurioni, d. 1646], Genoa 1648. A book of spiritual direction and guidance toward perfection, it presents examples drawn from the life of the nun, who followed very fashionable Quietist theories of her time.
