AIMOINO (O AIMONE) DI FLEURY

Also known as: Latin: Aimoinus, Aimoinus Floriacensis

AIMOIN (or Aimone) of Fleury. - Born into a noble family of Périgord, he entered Fleury around 980 and died there around 1008. By order of his abbot Abbo he composed: Historiae Francorum libri IV, which have come down to us in two different redactions, the first of which is the only authentic one; Translatio patris Benedicti, a poem of 200 hexameters on the famous translation to Fleury; De miraculis s. Benedicti libri II, a continuation of the work of two other monks of Fleury; Sermo in festivitatibus s. Benedicti; Vita et martyrium s. Abbonis abbatis (d. 1004), an excellent biography of his protector.
