ALANO di LYNN. — English Carmelite, originally from Kings-Lynn (county of Norfolk), died at Lynn in 1420. After graduating from the University of Cambridge, he taught Sacred Scripture and theology in the colleges of his Order with such learning that he was regarded as one of the foremost scholars in England. He was among those who fought most vigorously against the errors of Wycliff. His numerous works (more than 100) reveal a profound knowledge of the Fathers and Doctors of the Church. Among these we recall: De vario S. Scripturae sensu; Elucidarium Scripturae; Elucidationes Aristotelis; Moralia bibliorum.
