Albertacci, Vespasiano (called Anfiareo)

ALBERTACCI, VESPASIANO (known as AMFIAREO). — Franciscan, calligrapher, born in Ferrara and active in the second half of the 16th century. From the age of 14 he lived in Venice, where he taught for thirty years. His writings are collected in the Metodo et esemplare per lo scrivere majuscolo, dedicated to Doge Francesco Donati, compiled in 1572 and published in Venice in 1589. Merino, in his Escuela paleografica, considers him the finest calligrapher of his time.
