ALBERT OF BEHAIM (also called Bohemus). - Energetic partisan of the papacy against the German emperors and active promoter of monastic reform. A native (c. 1180) of the Behaimb family (Bavaria), a lawyer in the Roman Curia (1210) and at Lyon (1244), canon of Passau (1212), archdeacon of Lorch (1226), he was papal arbiter between Duke Otto of Bavaria and the bishop of Freising (1237), and executor (1239) of the bull of excommunication against Frederick II. A priest (1244) and dean of the cathedral of Passau, he retired there in 1250 and died there in 1260.
