ALBERTO (ADALBERT) di OBERALTAICH. — Benedictine monk, Bavarian, noble knight, born in 1239, died on 26 November 1311. He was minister to the counts of Haigerloch; from 1251, a monk at Oberaltaich. Subsequently he was director of the Oblates’ school, prior, parish priest, and custodian; he was assiduous in emending and glossing codices. He founded the first leprosarium in Bavaria. Soon after his death, he acquired popular veneration and a reputation for miracles.
