ALBERT (Adalbert) of Oberaltaich. - Benedictine monk, Bavarian, noble knight, b. in 1239, d. on 26 Nov. 1311. He was minister of the counts of Haigerloch, and from 1251 a monk at Oberaltaich. Subsequently director of the school of the Oblates, prior, parish priest, custodian; assiduous in emending and glossing codices. He established the first leper hospital in Bavaria. Soon after his death he had a popular cult and a reputation for miracles.
