ALEANDRI, IRENEO. – Architect, b. at Sanseverino Marche in 1795, d. at Macerata in 1885. A student at the Roman Academy of S. Luca, he gave an elegant variation to the neoclassical forms he had learned from Stern and G. Camporesi. He was architect to the bishop of Osimo, Cardinal Benvenuti, and papal engineer for the province of Spoleto. He is known for his theatres (Spoleto, Sanseverino, Ascoli, etc.), for the town hall of Foligno, and above all for the monumental and daring bridge of Ariccia. His most highly regarded work is the Sferisterio of Macerata (1821). – Vedi Tav. LX.
