ALESSANDRO I of GIULFA (GIULTAIETZI). — Katholikos of Egniazin from 1706 to 1714. A Monophysite and opposed to the Latin missionaries, certainly also because of a lack of mutual understanding, he wrote to Clement XI so that their activity might be disciplined. The pope’s cordial and fatherly reply (15 March 1710) represents the last communication between the Pope and the patriarchs of Egniazin.
