ALLIATA, GUGLIELMO. — Leader of Catholic Action, born in Rome in 1852, died there in 1937. A graduate of the Catholic University of Louvain, he was president of the Catholic Youth (1880–92), and promoted pilgrimages and demonstrations, especially for the jubilee of Leo XIII. He was among the founders and leaders of the Anti-Masonic Union and the Rivista Antimassonica (1894–1931), which were connected with the sensational Leo Taxil affair.
