AMBROSOLI, AMBROGIO. — Born in Milan on 23 November 1800 and died there on 21 July 1871, canon and philanthropist, he was a celebrated preacher of his time. A friend of Aporti and Lambruschini, he was praised by the latter in April 1848 in the newspaper La Patria for having preached in Rome in support of the emancipation of the Jews. A liberal priest, A. also rendered distinguished service to the infant asylums of Milan.
