AMBROSOLI, Ambrogio. — Born in Milan on 23 November 1800 and died there on 21 July 1871, he was a canon, a philanthropist, and a celebrated preacher of his time. A friend of Aporti and Lambruschini, he was praised by the latter in April 1848 in the newspaper *La Patria* for having preached in Rome in favor of the emancipation of the Jews. A liberal priest, A. was also a benefactor of the infant schools in Milan.
