ANNALES DE LA SAINTE-ENFANCE. - A bimonthly periodical, official organ of the Society of the Holy Childhood (v.), begun in Paris in 1846. Along with the annual report and the communications of the central council, it published correspondence on the development of the Society in Europe and in the East, and copious reports from the missions; from 1887 it carried illustrations. However much it may appear imitated from the Annales de l'Association de la propagation de la foi, with the adaptations required by the character of the Society, it is in fact an independent compilation. Editions more or less connected with the original French one soon spread in almost all European languages. The German edition of Aachen contains original material. The Italian one, begun in 1853 in Genoa under the title Annali dell'Opera della Santa Infanzia, presented itself as a version of the French one, but had particular correspondence from Italy; from 1924 it continued under the title Santa Infanzia.
