ANNALES DE LA SAINTE-ENFANCE. - Bimonthly periodical, official organ of the Opera della S. Infanzia (v.), begun in Paris in 1846. Together with the annual report and the communications of the central council, it published correspondence on the development of the Work in Europe and the East, and abundant reports from the missions; from 1887 it included illustrations. Although it may seem to have been imitated from the Annales de l'Association de la propagation de la foi, with the adaptations required by the character of the Work, it appears in fact to have been an independent compilation. Editions more or less connected with the original French one soon spread in almost all European languages. The German edition of Aachen contains original information. The Italian one, begun in 1853 in Genova under the title Annali dell'Opera della Santa Infanzia, was presented as a version of the French one, but had particular correspondence from Italy; from 1924 it was continued under the title Santa Infanzia.
