ARAUJO FRANCESCO. — Dominican theologian, b. at Verín (Spain) in 1580, d. at Madrid in 1664. He was a lecturer at the University of Salamanca (1617–37), then bishop of Segovia. He spent his final years in a convent in Madrid.
His commentaries on the Summa Theologica of St. Thomas were highly esteemed. In the controversy over predestination and free will, it is now established that he adhered to the thought of St. Thomas.
