Araújo, Francesco

ARAUJO FRANCESCO. – Dominican theologian, born at Verin (Spain) in 1580, died at Madrid in 1664. He was a lecturer at the University of Salamanca (1617–37), and subsequently bishop of Segovia. He spent his final years in a convent in Madrid.

His commentaries on the Summa Theologica of St Thomas were highly esteemed. In the controversy concerning predestination and free will, it has now been established that he adhered to the thought of St Thomas.
