ARCANGELO DI LIONE (MICHEL DEGRANGES O DESGRANGE)

Venerable ARCHANGEL of Lyons (Michel Degranges or Desgrange). — Capuchin friar, born in Lyons in 1736, died in 1822. At the age of fifteen he embraced the religious state. In 1789, for having dared to rail from the pulpit against the Estates-General, he was forced to flee his native city and take refuge in the convent of Sion (Switzerland). Returning to his homeland, he devoted himself entirely to the apostolate and to the restoration of his Order. He left noteworthy writings, among which should be remembered the posthumous work in two volumes: *Dissertations philosophiques, historiques et théologiques sur la religion catholique* (Lyons 1836).
