ANTONIO da CORDOVA. – Spanish Franciscan, a highly learned writer on sacred and profane disciplines, born in 1485, died at Guadalajara in 1578. He donned the Franciscan habit in the Minorite province of Castile, which he governed as provincial. His numerous works enjoyed very wide circulation. The following are noteworthy: Quaestionarium theologicum (Toledo 1578); Summa casuum conscientiae (Saragossa 1561, translated into Italian, Brescia 1599); Brevilquium theologiae scholasticae in IV libros sententiarum (Alcalá 1569).
