ARCHIDAMUS. - Roman priest of the 4th century. Together with the priest Philoxenus and the deacon Leo, he represented Pope Julius I (337-52) at the Council of Sardica (autumn 343).
in which, together with Philoxenus, he appears to have assisted Hosius in the presidency. This would then explain why their names immediately follow that of Hosius in the list of the fathers present at the Council, left to us by St. Athanasius (Apologia contra Arianos, 1), whereas they are absent from among the signatories of the letter, probably authentic, to Pope Julius, in which the people are told that they will receive fuller explanations from his legates.
