ARCHIERATICON (Ἀρχιερατινόν). - In the Churches of the Byzantine rite it is the liturgical book that contains the religious functions proper to a bishop. It corresponds in the main to the Roman pontifical. The editio princeps in Greek is that of Venice (1714), edited by Metrophanes, metropolitan of Nyssa; the latest issued from the patriarchal press of Constantinople in 1820. Isaac Habert, canon of the metropolitan church of Paris, published an A. in 1643, with the subtitle Liber Pontificalis Ecclesiae Grecae, printed in Paris. The Greek texts are accompanied by a translation and by commentaries in Latin.
