ARCHIERATICON (Ἀρχιερατινόν). — In the Churches of the Byzantine rite, this is the liturgical book containing the religious functions proper to the bishop. It corresponds broadly to the Roman pontifical. The editio princeps in Greek is that of Venice (1714), prepared by Metrofane, metropolitan of Nissa; the latest was issued by the patriarchal printing press of Constantinople in 1820. Isacco Habert, a canon of the metropolitan church of Paris, published in 1643 an edition, with the subtitle Liber Pontificalis Ecclesiae Grecae, printed in Paris. The Greek texts are accompanied by a translation and commentaries in Latin.
