ARCHIVUM FRANCISCANUM HISTORICUM. - Quarterly periodical for Franciscan history, begun in 1908 by the College of St. Bonaventure in Quaracchi near Florence (founded in 1878 to publish the critical edition of the works of St. Bonaventure and later became the center of philological and historical activity of the Order of Friars Minor). Its publication was decided by the Minister General P. Dionisio Schuler, on the occasion of the seventh centenary of the Order's origins. Its first director, for a few months, was Fr. GOLUBOVICH, GIROLAMO (v.); he was succeeded in May 1908 by the Lorrainer Fr. Michele Bihl, who held the office several times (from 1908 to 1915, from 1920 to 1930, and from 1933 to the present). The content includes critical discussions, editions of Franciscan documents, unpublished or rare (chronicles, lives, necrologies, bulls, etc.), descriptions of codices, bibliography, excerpts from other periodicals, and Franciscan literary chronicles. The method of publication is strictly scientific.
