AUNER, CAROL

AUNER, CAROL. - Priest and publicist, b. in Venice in 1865, d. in Bucharest in 1932. He studied at the Catholic Seminary in Bucharest. He became canon of the metropolitan church (1897), apostolic protonotary, and vicar general. He actively collaborated with the Revista catolică of Bucharest, contributing many essays written in Romanian: *Gli inizi del vescovato di Bacău* [The Beginnings of the Bishopric of Bacău]; *Il vescovato cattolico di Severin* [The Catholic Bishopric of Severin]; *Il vescovato cattolico di Argeș* [The Catholic Bishopric of Argeș]; *La Moldavia al Concilio di Firenze* [Moldavia at the Council of Florence], etc., in which he illustrated, with rigorously scientific criteria, the rise and spread of Catholicism in Romania.
