AUSTIN, Diocese of. — Pope Pius XII, with the apostolic constitution *Ad animarum bonum* of 15 Nov. 1947, erected the new diocese of A. (Texas, United States), assigning it territory detached from the dioceses of San Antonio, Galveston, and Dallas. The episcopal see is at Austin.
