AVITABILE, PIETRO. – Theatine, missionary, born on 18 October 1590 in Naples; he entered religious life in 1608 and was initially in Georgia (1626–38), then, after returning to Rome, in the Indies, as a member of the first Indian mission of the Theatines (1640–50); died in Goa in 1650.
