AVITRANI, VINCENZO. — According to Mazzuchelli and Villarosa, the name is Avinatri. An ascetical writer, born in Bergamo in 1612. He spent almost his entire life in Naples, where he entered the Oratorians (1629) and died in 1685.
He was master of novices, superior, and an esteemed spiritual director. Posthumous work: Calix inebrians ex suavissimo Christi passionis botro eliquatus, Naples 1694. Mazzuchelli, following Fr. Pio Tommaso Milante (Auctarium, supplement to Sisto Senese’s Bibliotheca Sancta, Naples 1742, p. 552), also attributes to him a Treatise on the Sorrows of the Virgin.
