BORGIOTTI, LUISA. - Co-foundress of the Sisters of Jesus of Nazareth, b. in Turin on 16 Feb. 1802, d. there in the reputation of sanctity on 23 Feb. 1873. She was an example of holy domestic life and devoted herself to the education of her younger brothers. After various spiritual anxieties, she returned to her former fervour and enrolled (1834) in the Pious Sodality of the Humiliated, where she was subprioress until her death, zealously visiting the sick and providing dowries for poor girls. She entered (1865) the Institute first called that of the Passion, later that of Jesus of Nazareth, founded at that time in Turin for the care and assistance of the sick in their homes by Marco A. Durando, priest of the Mission. She remained there as superior until her death, giving an example of charity and austerity.
Her body, exhumed in 1905, rests in the church of the Visitation in Turin. The cause for her beatification was introduced on 12 Apr. 1916.
