Azor, Juan

AZOR, JUAN. - Jesuit, b. at Lorca (Murcia) and d. at Rome in 1603. He taught dogmatic and moral theology also at Rome, where he likewise collaborated in the compilation of the « Ratio studiorum ». St. Alphonsus calls him an « auctor classicus » for his Institutiones Morales (3 vols., Rome 1600, 1606, 1611 and elsewhere several times). Bossuet in the synodal constitutions recommends the same work to the clergy.
