BARIGIONI, FILIPPO. – Architect and sculptor, b. in Rome in 1690, d. there in 1753. He carried out most of his activity in Rome: his principal sculptural work is the monument to Maria Clementina Sobieski in St Peter’s in the Vatican (1735), executed in collaboration with P. Bracci. He was the architect of the remarkable chapel of S. Francesco di Paola in S. Andrea delle Fratte and carried out various restorations, including that of S. Gregorio della Divina Pietà (1729). He was in Urbino, where he restored the church of S. Domenico (1732).
