BCROVIKOVSKIY, VLADIMIR LUKIČ. - Painter, born in 1727 at Mirgorod (Ukraine), died in 1825 at Pietroburgo. Already a pupil of Levitzkg, he subsequently developed his art particularly under the influence of Roslin and Voilles, and even more of Lampi, from whom he inherited the pathetic tendencies characteristic of Romanticism.
His portraits were much celebrated by the fashion of the time; in one of them he portrayed the Empress Caterina II while walking in the park of Tzarskoe Selo.
