CEVAKINSKY, SAVVA

CEVAKINSKY, SAVVA. - Russian architect, b. 1733, d. 1783. He trained under Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli, adapting to his brilliant mind the splendor and richness of Rastrelli's constructions. He built the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in St. Petersburg. He was one of the promoters in Russia of Western art and culture.
