BERNARDO da EGER (da AGRIA, in Ungheria). - Learned writer of the charterhouse of Liegnitz in the diocese of Breslavia, whom Tritemio calls a most erudite exegete, philosopher, and historian. He wrote many works, but not all of them were published. He died in 1493, according to the Bollandists (Acta SS. Octobris, III, Parigi 1868, p. 541).
Others place his death in 1497, but wrongly, since his name is found among the deceased in the Charter of the General Chapter of the Carthusians of 1494. The book of Dialoghi, which was printed immediately after his death, bears the title: Dialogus fratris Bernardi ordinis Carthusiensis immensam et innumerabile immaculate dei genitricis virginis Mariae misericordiam per multa miracula atque exempla elucidans atque amplificans. (At the end) Finitum est presens opusculum anno MCCCCXCIII et impressum in foelici urbe Lyptzigh.
