BIEBUYCK (BIBAUTX, BIBAUT, BIBANCE), GUILLAUME

BIEBUYCK (BIBAUTX, BIBAUT, BIBANCE), GUILLAUME. - General (36th) of the Carthusian Order, d. 24 July 1535. B. at Thielt, in Flanders. Around 1500 he took the religious habit at the Charterhouse of Gand; in Sept. 1521, while prior of the Charterhouse of Monte S. Geltude (Holland) and visitor of the Belgian Carthusian Province, he was elected general of the Order.

He wrote: Sermones et Orationes ad Fratres de veine spiritualis profecta (Antwerp 1539, 1610); Fasciculus desuper dilecti Filii Dei sacratissima et acerbissima Passione (16th-century ms., in-12°, in the library of Grenoble); Sequentia in honorem s. Ioachim Patris B.V.M., published at the end of the Vita Christi of Ludolfo certosino (Paris 1509, Lyons 1510, Venice 1566, Antwerp 1619, etc.); Sermones capitulares domus Carthusiae; Orationes capitulares (Antwerp 1610).
