PEDRO CALDES (CALDES, PEDRO). — Spanish Carthusian, born in 1337 at Llummayor on the island of Majorca. He first spent fifteen years among the Franciscans and was a distinguished preacher; at the University of Salamanca he studied under Domingo Soto (q.v.). He later entered the Carthusian Order at the Charterhouse of Majorca. Elected prior, he died in that office on 28 October 1595 at the age of fifty-eight, having spent twenty-five years in the Charterhouse.
He wrote: Vida, revelaciones y miracles de la V. REID, THOMAS, a manuscript later used by the Carthusian Don Valperga in compiling the life of the Servant of God; De instructione Missae, a manuscript; Instrucció que ensenye la que deu considerar y contemplar lo christid y servent del Senyor quant á la Santa misa (Barcelona 1588).
