BIFFI, GIAN ANDREA. — Sculptor, active in Milan, where he died in 1631. A pupil of Brambilla, he adhered to the prevailing Mannerist taste. From 1599 to 1629 he worked for the Duomo building works, for which he sculpted the reliefs of the Choir and statues for the exterior; for the tomb of s. Carlo Borromeo, he executed the models for two statues, the saint’s bust, and the silver reliquary.
