Biffi, Gian Andrea

BIFFI, GIAN ANDREA. - Sculptor, active in Milan, where he died in 1631. A pupil of Brambilla, he adhered to the prevailing mannerist taste. From 1599 to 1629 he worked for the Fabbrica del Duomo, for which he carved the reliefs of the Choir and statues for the exterior; for the tomb of St. Charles Borromeo he executed the models for two statues, for the bust of the saint and for the silver reliquary.
