FRANCESCO BRAMBILLA the YOUNGER. — Sculptor, active in the second half of the 16th century, died in Milan in 1599.
He worked for the Duomo workshop, providing, among other things as documented, the models for the choir carvings designed by Pellegrini, for the symbols of the Evangelists on the left pulpit and for the Doctors of the Church on the right one. Together with Pellegrini, he represents, in the history of the Milanese temple, that artistic renewal which began after the arrival of Cardinal Borromeo. Milanesi, in his commentary on Vasari’s *Lives*, VI (Florence 1878, p. 517), ELDER (v.) and attributes to him the latter’s works, including the bracket of Pius IV.
