BIHLMEYER, KARL. - Dean of the faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Tübingen, b. in 1874, d. there on 27 March 1942. He studied at that University under the guidance of Fr. X. Funck, whom he succeeded in 1907 in the teaching of ecclesiastical history, continuing until 1940. He contributed various articles, mostly on the period of the persecutions, to the Tubinger Theol. Quartalschrift. In 1907 he published a critical edition in German of the works of Henry Suso and in 1916 Die syrischen Kaiser zu Rom und das Christentum. He edited the third edition of Funck's Apostolic Fathers (1924) and also brought up to date his History of the Church, which he lastly published, excellently reworked, under his own name.
