BIHLMEYER, KARL. – Dean of the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Tübingen, born in 1874, died there on 27 March 1942. He studied at that University under the guidance of Fr. X. Funck, whom he succeeded in 1907 in teaching ecclesiastical history, continuing until 1940. He contributed various articles, mostly on the period of the persecutions, to the Tübinger Theol. Quartalschrift. In 1907 he published a critical edition in German of the works of Enrico Susone, and in 1916 Die syrischen Kaiser zu Rom und das Christentum. He edited the third edition of Funck’s Apostolic Fathers (1924) and also updated his History of the Church, which he ultimately published, thoroughly revised, under his own name. Ireneo Daniele
