BLAT, ALBERT. — Of the Order of Preachers, canon lawyer. Born in Valencia on 3 February 1870. Having donned the Dominican habit at a very young age, he completed at the Minerva in Rome the studies he had begun at Avila. After teaching canon law in the houses of the Order, he held various offices, including that of prior of the convent of Avila and definitor. Recalled to the chair of canon law, he taught at the «Angelicum» Athenaeum in Rome until 1942. He died at Avila on 2 May 1943. His principal work is the Commentarium textus CIC (6 vols., Rome 1923, followed by various editions), which was frequently consulted.
