BUCHOLTZ, FRANZ BERNHARD von. – Austrian statesman and historian, born on 10 June 1790 in Münster (Westphalia), died on 14 February 1838 in Vienna. In the activity he carried out in the Austrian capital, he brought the spirit of renewal characteristic of the Catholic circles from which he came. His principal work is the history of the reign of Ferdinand I (9 vols., Vienna 1830–38).
