CALLONI, Vincenzo. - Franciscan missionary, born in S. Maria a Colle (Lucca) on 24 March 1844. Sent to the missionary college of S. Carlo in S. Lorenzo, province of Santa-Fé in Argentina, where he arrived in December 1869. He remained there as a missionary for 50 years, being elected twice as prefect of that mission, namely in 1879 and 1892.

On 14 May 1904 he was appointed guardian of the aforementioned college, where he was also master of novices, reader in dogmatic theology, and a skilled orator. Despite his irreproachable conduct and the good of his apostolate, he was the target of attacks. He died on 6 April 1920 in his mission, which he also illustrated with the following works: *Apuntes históricos sobre la fundación del Colegio de S. Carlos y sus Misiones en la Prov. de Santa-Fé por Fr. Obs. Missionum Praefecti collegii S. Caroli in Rep. Argentina ab an. 1879 ad 1882* (in *Acta Ordinis Minorum*, Quaracchi 1890, pp. 41-47).
