CORGNA, FULVIO (GIULIO) della. — Cardinal, son of Francia and of Iacopa del Monte, sister of Giulio III, brother of Ascanio, belonged to the Order of the Knights of Malta. He was elected Bishop of Perugia on 5 March 1550 by his uncle the Pope and held that see until 1553 and then again from 1564 to 1574; he was created cardinal on 20 November 1551. Favoring the Spanish party, he was imprisoned in Castel S. Angelo on 27 July 1556 for the protection he afforded his brother Ascanio. He obtained the see of Albano on 5 May 1574, and was transferred to that of Porto on 5 December 1580. He died in the Curia on 2 March 1583 and was buried at S. Pietro in Montorio.
