CORGNA, FULVIO (GIULIO) della. – Cardinal, son of Francia and Iacopa del Monte, sister of Giulio III, and brother of Ascanio, he belonged to the Order of the Knights of Malta. He was elected bishop of Perugia on 5 March 1550 by his papal uncle and held that see until 1553 and then again from 1564 to 1574; he was created cardinal on 20 November 1551. Favorable to the Spanish party, he was imprisoned in Castel S. Angelo on 27 July 1556 for the protection he had given to his brother Ascanio. He received the bishopric of Albano on 5 May 1574, and transferred to that of Porto on 5 December 1580. He died in the Curia on 2 March 1583 and was buried at S. Pietro in Montorio.
